Keep In Touch
I looked at the clock and yawned. I was only 6:30 P.M Another two whole hours before I start feeling hungry for dinner. I might as well get online and kill time. Even better, maybe, I would be able to catch my husband if he was plugged in too. After a couple of movie review browsings, I logged on to the chat messenger. Yup! There he was. Thank God for overlapping timezones.
Me: “Howdy! What ya doin?”
Him: “Hi there. Whats up? The usual here - Nothing you would find interesting. Projects, deadlines, lots and lots of files before I sleep”
Me: “Hmmm. When is this current assignment getting over? I am getting so bored. It is a Sunday evening and instead of lazing in a farmhouse resort, I am thinking of what to cook for the evening. :-(”
Him:”Plzzzzz don’t start that thread now. I’ve told you before. Let me finish this in peace.”
Me:”Hmph. Have you seen that episode of Desperate Housewives? I am warning you - I am likely to get inspired.”
Him:”Please! You are in India. You can’t do all that.”
Me:”So what? Boredom knows no boundaries”
Me:”Huh? Are you there? Are you reading my msgs?”
Him: “Hm? yes, yes”
Me: “Sigh. Ok. What else? What about dinner? When are you having it?”
Him: “What abt it? You said you were going to cook something…”
Me: “No - I’ve changed my mind. I think - we should go to Domino’s”
Him: “Ho-hum. Alright! I’ll just mail this report and come down.”
Me: “Thank goodness for internet and thanks for getting me this comp. You only respond to me online ever since you locked yourself in your home-office, you are not taking my calls, knocks…We should stay more connected offline too”
Him: “OK. OK. logging off. Bye”
