Yesterday was Earth Day. I gathered some gadgets that conserve energy thus making Earth a Greener place to live. Most of these gadgets are relevant to Indian audience and environment - but does not mean others cannot use these and benefit.

1. TV Channel Monitor - This simple gadget when fitted to any TV/Setup box will switch off TV when it detects that no one is watching it. It basically monitors the number of channel switches and if the same channel is playing for 30 minutes continously, it will infer that no one is watching the TV and switch off. Is there any one who watch the same channel for 30 minutes continously?

2. Auto Engine Off - This gadget when fitted to any automobile will detect if the vehicle is in neutral gear for more than 5 seconds, will cut off the fuel supply forcing the engine to be off. This will not only save fuel, but also reduce noise and pollution near traffic signals.

3. Charge Off - This gadget can be fitted to any electrical outlet (plug point). When a mobile charger is connected to the plug point the gadget will detect when the mobile is fully charged and cut off the powersupply.

4. Thermostat Addon - This gadget should be fitted for water heaters. This will monitor the inlet of the water heater and if there is no flow even after 30 minutes once the water is heated, will switch off the powersupply.

5. Channel Monitor v2 - This is the improvisation of gadget #1. This switches off the TV when there are too many channel changes in span of 15 minutes. The device infers that there is nothing worth watching and hence it is better to switch off.
